Dance In That Rain!

raindance.jpg

I’ve had a SUPER busy, preoccupied kind of week last week. ย I just never seemed to find time to blogย ๐Ÿ˜’ย and it feels like it’s been forever. So yeah, the week/weekend took me away a bit and definitely distracted me from some of my goals. But I had fun and spent time with doing good things, seeing great friends and spending quality time with the hubby and that made for a great weekend! No regrets!

I was working on G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. projects all week. Which was so much fun, and since I’m not at allllll artsy, I chose tasks that were close to heart and made up of all kinds of random kindness. Indeed very me.ย

I also went to a picnic in the rain to say farewell to a few people we know who are leaving the area. Surprisingly a picnic in the rain (under a shelter) isn’t half bad. The rain was nice. I spent a few extra minutes in the Jeep listening to rain fall on the roof while hubby went ahead to the picnic. ย We have a soft top and I love the sound of the raindrops. I nearly fell asleep lol. We ran into our friends Greg & Jade who we haven’t seen in quite a while. It was awesome to catch up and just chill a minute.

Saturday we went to the New Breed Championships. They are a jiu jitsu, ย muy Thai and general mixed martial arts competition. One of our close friends daughter was in competition there for her team/training dojo, ย OutFox. It’s crazy how good these kids are. Dedication and commitment mixed with a lot of heart and love for their sport. Keith and I walked away feeling like we just visited a tight community. We are so proud of Lily’s accomplishments. This was her FIRST real competition and she had to go up against someone at a higher skill set than she was in. She held her own and all and all she did am amazing job for her first real go at it competitively.ย

We were going to go to Busch Gardens afterwards but it was still rainy and Keith’s till suffering an ankle injury (rain doesn’t help). So we decided to stay home and just have a lazy weekend spending some quality time together. The week was kind of non stop for both of us between work, working out and events going on. We didn’t even hit the computers much. We just wanted some quiet time to make plans, dream and just “be”.ย

Then last night and some baaaaaad salsa. Not a great way to end a beautiful week, but I’ll take it because the rest was magical!

That’s where I’ve been, taking a few days technologically low key. And now a new week begins and so does a new round of the fitness program I’m doing as well as getting back to some run training and tweaking our PCS a little more.ย

The Weekend

Hope your weekend was ๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰๏ธ๐ŸŽŠย fabulous! We were SUPER busy! Between shopping ๐Ÿ˜„parties๏ธย ๏ธ๐ŸŽตย , getting my hair color doneย ๐Ÿ’‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿคณ๐Ÿฝ, fireworks displaysย ๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ†ย and squeezing in workoutsย ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ๐Ÿฝย , we had a long weekend. I gave myself the luxury of sleeping in a little today. But now I have a ton of email to catch up on!

But you know, ย new found discipline and all, the weekends festivities allowed for a little indulgence, my favorite this weekend had to be ๐Ÿ˜‹๐ŸžSamoan Pani Popo (Samoan Coconut Rolls) that our friend Rachel made. They were soooooo good! Definitely a special treat. I’m pretty sure her recipe is a handed down family recipe but I did find this one in case your interested (Pani Popo recipe). I usually don’t eat much at all with white sugar, so this was an indulgence for sure. But when you keep your nutrition super clean it’s something you can do once in a while and really enjoy the experience!

The fireworks display at Mt Trashmore Park was really nice. I completely forgot to take a video like I usually do with firework displaysย ๐Ÿ˜žย but my hubby snagged a few good shots! We had rain threatening all night but the show still went on!

I hope everywhere implements what a town in Italy did this year, silent fireworks! ย I guess it is growing in popularity not only because of animals becoming fearful but for vets who suffer from PTSD as well. Not to mention how hard it must be for shift workers, elderly and those who may be sick to try and sleep through even if it’s only a half hour or so. More about ….silent fireworks, here.

My cute hubbyย ๐Ÿ’™

We didn’t really get many other photo’s ๐Ÿ“ธย from this weekend though. The bbq parties were pretty chill and laid back. Just good friends hanging out eating, talking playing some ๐ŸŽฎย Mario Kart and wishing we could have played corn hole, darn rain๐ŸŒฆ๏ธโ›ˆ๏ธ. And when we worked out we really just did fit the workouts in when and where we could so I wasn’t thinking ๐Ÿ’กย photo/video inspiration, just quick lets get it done!

Now today seriously feels like a Monday and my day started slowwwwwwly lol. Time to get it into gear!! So today I’m gonna ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝย “Dig Deep” with more #shaunweek and try and get a run ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝย in, in between some rain drops ย ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ! I’m planning doubles all week though. A great weekend enjoyed deserves a extra attention to doing what’s right for your body post-weekend. So time to focus and get back in the game!

๐Ÿ˜ขย So many people who are doing a fitness program who indulge over a weekend or party, can get mad at themselves and throw in the towel on their whole plan for living healthier and doing what their body needs them to do. They figure, I messed it all up.

No

No

No!

This is actually the time when you prove to yourself all you’ve learned with respecting your body, your journey and the whole process. You aren’t perfect and there’s a lot of temptations out there that will steer you off your goals. So after a a little, or even a lot of indulgence, don’t feel you are defeated ๏ธ๐ŸฅŠ๐Ÿ˜ข. Instead get back at it, re-dedicate yourself. Do a little extra and fine tune your nutrition ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿฅ—. ย This is also the time to put a mental check โœ”๏ธย in your mind that the next time an event is coming up where you know you may want to indulge…

  • Do it mindfully. Don’t eat a huge piece of cake, eat a small one. Load up on the salad and small portions with the more calorie laden foods.
  • Double up on your fitness the few days before and a few days after
  • Keep your goals in mind and weight them against the temptations you will meet face to face. Choose wisely!

โ˜”ย I’m headed out now to get that run in, it’s looking like the rain’s coming sooner than later! I’ll be back later today! So how was your weekend?
