Bananas Foster Shakeology

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup water
1 cup ice
1 scoop Vanilla Shakeology (or Vanilla Plant-Based Vegan Shakeology)
½ large banana, cut into chunks
¼ cup + 2 Tbsp. reduced-fat (2%) plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp. pure caramel extract

INSTRUCTIONS:
Place water, ice, Shakeology, banana, yogurt, and extract in blender; cover. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

shakeology® tips and tricks


Use only 1/2 scoop for the first week or so.  – If you get the packets, use 1/2 of the packet per shake.  Since Shakeology is so rich in nutrients, sometimes the introduction of them into your system (especially if your diet isn’t clean) can be startling. It’s best to ease into it a 1/2 scoop at a time.

If you’re lactose intolerant, you may want to order the Vegan formulas.  The regular formulas have a milk protein in them that’s amazing, but…not if you’re lactose intolerant.  If you’ve already ordered the regular kind and are sitting there going, “Shoot!”, don’t worry.  You can call customer service and you’ll be able to return your bag for an exchange.  Sometimes people don’t know this and if they’re lactose sensitive, when they drink it they get a belly ache.  The Vegan formula should help.

Cut back slow. – if you are use to really sweet foods then remember to make your shake so you enjoy it and slowly reduce the sweeteners ( fruit, stevia, flavored milk etc.)

Like it creamy? – if you like it creamy use a milk source ( oat milk is amazing!) or add greek yogurt.

Prep Your Shakes. – Throw some pre-measured fruit and greens into a bag and place in the freezer. This is a great way to make sure you don’t waste the beautiful produce you bought if it starts to go bad. 

Get Your Green On. – Add a handful of kale or spinach—you won’t even know it’s in there but it will help you get even more greens into your diet!

Easy Access. – Leave it out on your counter. When things get lost in the pantry or you have to get up on a chair to reach it, you’re setting yourself up for extra work. Out of sight, out of mind is for real.


Clean Blender. – Let’s face it, nobody enjoys cleaning the blender. But, did you know placing a little bit of soap and water into the blender, blending up, and rinsing is a quick-and-easy solution to a dirty blender?

 
Be Ratio Ready. – Remember the ratio of liquid to add-ins—and look for that perfect fit for you.

just a thought from this morning…

While making my breakfast I thought…
I don’t do well with routine.
I get bored easily.
I get distracted easily.


But I’ve made the challenge of routine a HUGE getter for me now.
Especially with:
mindful movement
mindful nutrition
and mindful purpose.


And what I’m realizing is that most of the time I wasn’t building any routine around what drove me, what sparked passion. No I was building routine around what I thought I should be doing, or what I thought others expected me to do, or what the “normally accepted” things are to do. And at times I just stopped forward momentum because the opinions of others caused me inaction. I wanted to be accepted and I let the judgement of others drive my life as I longed for that acceptance.


All along it was me who needed to accept me.
And now routine is easier…
and more often than not, now I look forward to it.
Now I have more focus and direction
on what I want to achieve in life.


My biggest desire for you to achieve that too. Keep getting up, keep rising even if you stumble and fall, get back up, pause and then move forward again. Even if it takes baby steps, live every day more; intentionally, mindfully, thoughtfully and authentically ❤


Whatever that looks like for you – do that!

pumpkin spice shakeology recipes

Pumpkin Spice Latte – 1 cup unsweetened almond milk + 1 scoop Cafe Latte Shakeology + 1 tablespoon pure pumpkin puree + ½ teaspoon cinnamon + ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice + ice. Mix in a blender until smooth.

Pumpkin Nog – Pumpkin Spice Shakeology + 1/2 cup almond milk + 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream + 1 tsp. rum extract + ¼ tsp. ground nutmeg + ice.  Mix in blender until smooth.

Pumpkin Apple Butter 
– 1 scoop Pumpkin Spice Shakeology + 1/3 to ½ cup apple butter + 1 cup unsweetened cashew or almond milk + water + ice. Mix in blender until smooth.

Creamy Pumpkin Almond Chai – Pumpkin Spice Shakeology + 1/2 tsp. almond extract + 1 cup chilled unsweetened chai tea + ice .  Mix in blender until smooth.

Pumpkin Apple Oatmeal – Pumpkin Spice Shakeology + ½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk + 1/4 cup oats + 1/4 cup applesauce + 1 tsp. pure maple syrup + ice.  Mix in blender until smooth.

Chocolate Pumpkin Pie – ½ cup unsweetened almond milk + ½ cup water + 1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology + ½ cup canned pumpkin puree  + ½ teaspoon cinnamon + ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg + ice.  Mix in a blender until smooth.

Pumpkin Pecan Cinnamon Roll – Pumpkin Spice Shakeology + 1 tsp. cinnamon + 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract + 8 pecan halves + 1 cup vanilla almond milk + ice .  Blend until smooth and top with coco whip (optional).

Pumpkin Coffee Cheesecake  – 1 scoop Cafe Latte Shakeology + 1 cup canned pumpkin puree + ½ cup plain Greek yogurt + 1 teaspoon cinnamon + dash of vanilla extract + water + ice. Mix in blender until smooth.  (Note:  you could optionally use Vanilla Shakeology and brewed chilled coffee instead of Cafe Latte Shakeology and water)

Pumpkin Spice Tiramisu – 1/2 scoop Cafe Latte Shakeology + 1/2 scoop Chocolate Shakeology + 1/2 cup pumpkin puree + 1/2 tsp pumpkin spice + 1 Tbsp. ricotta cheese + ½ tsp. rum extract + ice.  Mix in blender until smooth.

Pumpkin Banana Bread – Pumpkin Spice Shakeology + 1/2 banana + 2 Tbsp. oats + 1 Tbsp. chopped pecans + 1 tsp. vanilla extract + ½ tsp. cinnamon + 1 c. almond milk + ice.  Mix in blender until smooth.


Pumpkin “Pie” Bites –  Combine 1 can pumpkin puree + 2 very ripe bananas + ½ cup coconut sugar + 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon + ¼ teaspoon ginger + ¼ teaspoon nutmeg + ½ teaspoon Himalayan salt or sea salt in a food processor and mix until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.

Scoop the mixture into muffin pan liners or a silicone muffin pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. After removing the bites from the oven, refrigerate until firm. Meanwhile, whip together 1 can full-fat coconut milk that has been refrigerated overnight (remove the fatty white surface layer) + 2 tablespoons maple syrup + 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla beans until the mixture forms a cream. Top pumpkin pie bites with cream. Store in the fridge for the best results. Makes approximately 12 muffins. (From the kitchen of 21 Day Fix’s Autumn Calabrese).

21 Day Fix Pumpkin Muffins – 2 eggs + ¼ cup canned pumpkin puree + 1 large banana + ½ cup natural peanut butter + ¼ cup honey + 2 scoops Vanilla or Chocolate Shakeology + ½ teaspoon baking powder + ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice + ¼ teaspoon sea salt.

In a blender, mix eggs, pumpkin, banana, peanut butter and honey for 30 seconds. Add Shakeology, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and sea salt and blend until smooth.

Divide the batter evenly in a lined muffin pan – add five dark chocolate chips to each muffin to change it up if you want – and bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. (Two muffins count as ½ red and 1/3 purple 21 Day Fix containers. Recipe from the kitchen of Autumn Calabrese.)


Pumpkin Protein Pancakes – 1 scoop of Vanilla Shakeology + ½ cup pure canned pumpkin + 2 egg whites + 1 drop Sweet Drops vanilla sweetener + 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix ingredients together and scoop pancake-sized dollops onto a hot griddle, flipping them over when the top begins to bubble


Pumpkin Spice Cookies

INGREDIENTS:⁠
• 1 cup chopped raw pecans, toasted⁠
• 10 Medjool dates⁠, pits removed⁠
• ½ tsp. pumpkin pie spice⁠
• ¼ tsp. ground ginger⁠
• 2 packets Pumpkin Spice Plant-Based Vegan Shakeology⁠
• ½ cup pure pumpkin puree⁠

INSTRUCTIONS:⁠
1. Place pecans, dates, pumpkin pie spice, and ginger in food processor; process until blended. ⁠
2. Add Shakeology and pumpkin puree; process until well blended. ⁠
3. Roll mixture into 20 balls, approximately 1 Tbsp. each.⁠
4. Flatten each slightly so that it’s shaped like a traditional cookie. ⁠
5. Serve immediately (or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.)⁠

Pumpkin Spice Cake

INGREDIENTS
• 1 cup pumpkin puree
• 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup maple syrup
• 1/2 cup pumpkin spice Shakeology
• 1 2/3 cup oat flour (grind oats in a blender or replace with whole grain flour)
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• (optional) 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips, at least 60% cocoa

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Mix wet ingredients (pumpkin puree, applesauce, eggs & maple syrup) in a large bowl until blended. In a separate bowl, whisk together dry ingredients (Shakeology, flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt). Add to the wet ingredients. Fold in chocolate chips. Fill baking vehicle (baking dish, loaf pan, muffin tin, etc.) about 2/3rds full. Bake 25-30min for muffins; 35-40min for bigger vehicles or until toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup low-sodium organic chicken broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 medium jalapeño peppers, seeded and deveined, chopped (optional)

  • 2 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 2 tsp. ground smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp. sea salt (or Himalayan salt)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 lb. raw chicken breast, boneless, skinless
  • 8 (6-inch) corn tortillas, warm
  • 1 cup pico de gallo (or fresh tomato salsa)
  • 1 medium ripe avocado, sliced
  • 1 medium lime, cut into 4 wedges
  • ¼ cup finely chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Place chicken broth, garlic, jalapeños (if desired), chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, bay leaves, and chicken in a 3-quart slow cooker; mix well and cover. Cook on high for 2½ to 3 hours (or on low for 4 to 5 hours), or until chicken is tender.
  2. Transfer chicken to a cutting board and shred with 2 forks.
  3. Evenly divide chicken between 8 tortillas. Top evenly with pico de gallo, avocado, lime juice, and cilantro; serve immediately.

FIXATE Chicken Mole

Ingredients

  • 3 large dried ancho (or pasilla) chiles stems, seeds, and ribs removed and discarded
  • 1½ cups hot water
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil divided use
  • 1½ medium onions chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 (6-inch) corn tortillas toasted, torn into pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. all-natural smooth peanut butter
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1¾ cups low-sodium organic vegetable (or chicken) broth
  • 1 (3.1-oz.) square Mexican chocolate (like Ibarra or Abuelita), chopped
  • 1 tsp. sea salt (or Himalayan salt)
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 8 (4-oz.) raw chicken breasts boneless, skinless

Instructions

  1. Soak chiles in water for 15 minutes. Drain; set aside.
  2. Heat 2 Tbsp. oil in large saucepan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add onions; cook, stirring frequently, for 4 to 6 minutes, or until onions are translucent.
  4. Add garlic; cook, stirring frequently, for 1 minute.
  5. Place onion mixture, chiles, tortillas, peanut butter, oregano, and broth in blender, in two or more batches, if necessary; cover with lid and kitchen towel. Blend until very smooth.
  6. Return mixture to saucepan; cook on medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for 15 to 20 minutes.
  7. Add chocolate. Season with salt and pepper; cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 4 minutes, or until chocolate is melted and mixture is thick enough to coat a wooden spoon. Set aside.
  8. Heat remaining 1 tsp. oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  9. Add chicken breasts; cook, turning once, for 7 to 9 minutes, or until chicken breasts are no longer pink in the middle.
  10. Top each chicken breast with ⅓ cup mole sauce.

Recipe Notes: You can substitute 3 oz. dark chocolate plus 1 pinch of ground cinnamon for Mexican chocolate.

  • 1 tsp. olive oil

  • 1½ cups dry farro rinsed
  • 1 (15-oz.) can black beans rinsed, drained

  • 1 (15-oz.) can diced fire-roasted tomatoes (or diced tomatoes) no salt added
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (10-oz.) can red enchilada sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 2 tsp. ground coriander
  • Sea salt (or Himalayan salt) and ground black pepper to taste; optional
  • 1 cup shredded jack, cheddar, or Mexican blend cheese
  • 3 medium green onions chopped
  • ¼ cup finely chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onion; cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes, or until onion is soft.

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  2. Lightly coat both sides of tortillas with spray. Place tortillas in single layer on large baking sheet. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden. Set aside.
  3. While tortillas are baking, heat salsa in medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add turkey; cook, stirring frequently, for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until turkey is evenly coated and heated through.
  5. To serve, place a tortilla on each serving plate. Top evenly with lettuce, turkey mixture, onion, cheese, and avocado.

It’s taken me a long time to believe that my body is my most valuable asset and that I should treat it as such. The majority of people choose to fuel their bodies with junk food and way too much processed garbage. It just doesn’t make sense to me anymore. You learn late that if you take care of your 20 and 30 year old self better; healthier foods, exercise, supplementing vitamins and minerals you don’t get enough of, etc… your 30, 40, 50 and so on self not only gives you the better odds to optimal health, but better odds in fighting disease. I’ve chosen now to invest in my body because it needs to be around a lot longer than any expensive car or handbag. 

I try to eat as many organic, whole foods as possible. I’ve given up meats, other than fish. Cut out dairy a long time ago. Exercise daily. But still continued to eat a lot of crap; processed sugar being one of the biggest over indulgences. I needed help curbing that. But I’m not wealthy so I searched for cheap alternatives. Well, you know what you get when you go for cheap instead of quality? It doesn’t work in the long run, so you still waste valuable $$$. So believe me, I did not make the decision to go back to Shakeology quickly or easily! 

I tried lots and lots of different brands, tried making my own. I was spending hundreds of dollars on a lot of things that claimed they would curb my appetite and provide me with the same vitamins and minerals, and either they tasted bad, didn’t fill me up, or didn’t have nearly as good of quality ingredients as Shakeology.

I had learned that Shakeology contained ALL of the superfoods PLUS more that I needed, tasted delicious and curbed cravings for hours for me. I’d crave that bag of chips, the donuts, the candy and then drink one Shakeology shake and my tummy was satisfied and my mouth was satisfied by having something that tasted like a treat. Finally I came back to Shakeology after spending a ton of money on other products that didn’t come close, only to learn that I am worth fueling my body with the best. After all I only have one body and one life to live, have to live it right!
